I have apparently named myself Reviewer of Boston Area Coffee Shops.
.
I am, it turns out, unemployed and bored. Thus, these are collected what-things-are-preceded-by-a-photo-of-mine-which-feels-like-the-establishment-in-question. Mostly here so that I can remember.
.
Today, I have traveled to the Kendall area (about an hour and half walk from Mission Hill) to go to Voltage Coffee & Art.
.
Let me tell you of this wondrous place. It is two parts modern art gallery, one part campus-like open workspace, and one and a quarter parts coffee alchemy shop.
.
If you are looking for a cozy nook to curl up in, go away.
If you are looking for a beautiful, open, light and art filled space to work in … well, come here.

And the coffee…
.
They have a little menu of special lattes, as well as the traditional coffee stuffs. Their special lattes are magic. Pricey, yes. Magic, double yes. For those of us who are unemployed, you can pay with a credit card. Yes, even if you just want a coffee. I got a ‘By the Sea’ latte. It’s a gorgeous latte finished with salted caramel and something else wonderful. The coffee making bar area looks like an alchemist station … lots of pouring of liquids in to various containers and such. Fantastic. It sort of feels like they sectioned off an area of the MOMA and stuck a coffee bar and tables in it so that you could get some work done.

The work up at the moment is gorgeous portraiture by Tess Jenkins. Highly recommended.

Did I mention free wi-fi?
